condemmed chapter four...

I stood watching as Zack and alex argued over wether dogs or cats are smarter. Alex insisted that cats were smarter but Zack wouldnt take it, instead siding with dogs.
"Dogs are smarter! they obey there master and have the ability to learn tricks!" zack yelled.
"cats are! they dont just shit and piss anywhere they like,they learn how to use a litter box! and you can teach cats tricks,i once taught one to sit!" alex argued.
"dogs!"
"cats!"
"i cant beleve were actually having this conversation!"
Zack and Alex looked at each other for a second,and then burst out laughing. i shook my head.idiots. cam was lying on the couch with a pillow over his head,mumbling unreapeatable things about said 'mother fucking assholes' . we sat in awkward silence for a minute once zack and alex had calmed down. i sat down on the kitchen counter and took out my phone, fumbling around with it for a second before setting it doen on the table. zack threw his hands up in the air.
"you  guys are some of the most boring people i know!"
"youre the most annoting person i know." i mumbled.
"i know!" alex piped up."lets go to a bar!"
"hell no! i do not wanna see zack drunk,thank ya very much!" cam yelled.
"awww, c'mon cammy,gimme some credit. dont you know me at all?"
"thats exactly why were not going."
zack stuck his tongue out at him.
i sighed and stood up to turn the news on. the steady drone of the news reporter in the background helped the awkward silence pass faster as we all pretended to be interested in what they were saying."this just in,a condemer has been spoted by hallys bar,officals are rushing to the scene,will our mysterious saviors handle it?"
i snorted."mysterious saviors?"
"stupis news lady." zack growled.
"come on guys,lets go." alex sighed,apparntly not so enthusiastic about fighting condemers today.
cam mumbled something as he slipped a gun into his jacket. zack pulled on his gloves and picked up his sword. we all headed for the door. as we passed a door,a lady came out."oh,hello.cosplaying again?" she asked.
"sure are!" zack said cheerfully.
"oh,well have fun."
"will do!"
a few minutes later we all piled into the jeep and headed toward hallys. as we got closer,it was easy to see all the people frantically trying to get as far away from the condemer as possible. we were the only ones going towards the resterant. when we got there,police were everywhere,but i didnt see cain.
"well i wanted to go to a bar but..."alex mumbled
"must be one damn big condemer" zack said.
"shut up" cam and i said at the same time.
i parked the car behind the resterant and we got out.
"oky,so judging by the noise,i'd say the condemer is over there..."zack pointed to an ally a few blocks away.
"of course,there always in the allys." cam rolled his eyes.
"hehe,hallys allys"zack grinned
"aww zack will you just shut the fuck up for once?" i growled as we moved in on the condemer. i conjured up some demons to scout ahead. alex shifted into a large black bear with red eyes. flames danced up around cam,mingling with the small shadows that crept around me.  i spotted the condemer and stopped in my tracks. it was huge,about 15 feet tall and black as night. it eyes were unusally small for one its size though,and it wasnt facing us. behind me,zack hissed.
"whats wrong?" i turned towards him.
"dammit,thats the condemer that took my arm." he winced.my eyes widend."you sure?"
"positive"
"well damn..."
the condemer must have heard because it turned on us. spotting zack,it kind of shudderd,almost as if happy he was back for more. zack clutched at his shoulder and hissed in pain.
"NOW!"i yelled and charged the condemer. alex ran to it and bit onto its arm weighing it down. the condemer shook her off easily,throwing her to the ground where she hit her head and passed out,shifting back as she did. cam yelled and shot a the condemer,trying to hit its heart with the hyperon silver bullets,but it turned at the last moment.
"dont look in its eyes!" i yelled.
"as if id be that stupid!" cam yelled back. Zack stood up and drew his sword. he yelled and swung at the condemers chest,almost hitting his mark but again the condemer turned at the last moment and hit him in the side knocking him to the ground. it screeched and took hold of his artifical arm,and ripped it out of his shoulder. Zacks scream ripped through me like a thousand shards of glass as i stood wide eyed.

agony erupted throughout my body as metal was ripped from flesh. i screamed again,clutching my arm tighly. i squeezed my eyes closed and willed the pain to go away. then the condemer did something unexpected,it talked. you survive first attack? not second! and with that it took hold of my left leg,and pulled. white hot pain racked through my body and i screamed for a third time. i was vagly aware of someone calling my name,but i was in too much pain to open my eyes as i blacked out.
i drifted through the cool black darkness,savoring the feel of not being aware of anything. it only lasted a minute,then i was thrown into a different world. a younger me sat there,drenched in my parents blood,unaware of the condemer that loomed behind me. i turned,my cheekes streaked with tears and my eyes widend as i saw the condemer. as it reached for my arm,and pulled. i was pulled back into reality so suddenly for a second i didnt feel the pain,but then it hit me,all at once and another scream ripped through my batterd throat. i heard voices around me but i couldnt place them as i blacked out again.

"Dammit alex drive faster!" i yelled,trying to stop the blood flowing from zacks leg. cam clutched at his mangled arm but managed to stay conscious enough to try and stop the blood flow. "im trying,were almost there!" she yelled back. we sped into the hospital parking lot at full speed. she pulled up at the front,leaving skid marks on the road. nurses ran out with gurneys and loaded zack and cam onto them immediatly turning  and going back. a few nurses came up to me and tried to get me nto a stretcher but i pushed them away. "its only a few cuts,worry about them." i growled turning on my heel and running into the hospital.i sat down in one of the chairs and was joined by alex. we sat in the waiting room throughout the night. eventually a nurse came up and bandaged my cuts since i refused to leave the waiting room.after what seemed like forever, a man came up to us. he started to talk but i cut him off
"are they okay?"
he looked at us for a second.
"the brown haired one-"
"cam" alex interupted.
"right.we wern't able to save the bottom half of cam's arm,so it was amputated. he just came out of surgery but is not allowed visitors yet."
"and zack?" i pressed.
"his injuries were more severe,he lost his left arm and leg,there was nothing that could save them. hes still in surgery right now and wont be taking visitors for a while."
we stood there in uncomfortable silence.
"hey alex?" i mumbled.
"yeah?"
"did zack ever give you the number to his mechanic?"
"uh,no i dont think so.why?"
"he'l need a new arm." i mumbled.
"wait, what do you mean a 'new arm'?" the doctor asked,confused.
"oh. the arm that the condemer took was artifical." i said,lost in thought.
"DAMMIT! you people need to tell us this kind of stuff,do you still have the arm?"
"no,it was destroyed"
the doctor growled and ran off.
"cheerful guy."alex said halfheartedly.
i sat back down in my seat."i guess we'l just have to ask zack the number when he wakes up.damn,he's gonna be pissed."
"losing his arm again?"
"no.because we didn't kill the condemer."
we waited another few hours untill a doctor came in saying we were allowed to see cam an zack was out of surgery. he led us to a room and opend the door,after checking cams vitals,he left. he looked really bad. his right arm was wrapped in bandages down to his elbow,where it stopped. his skin was pale and sweaty,but his breathing was regular. alex held his hand and squeezed it lightly, he stirred in his sleep and his eyes flutterd open. he moaned lightly. "cam?" i asked. "wherami?" he mumbled.
"the hospital,dont you remember?"
his eyes suddenly widened and he shot up in bed, his left arm moving to feel his right. he sagged when he felt it was no longer there.
"they couldnt save it.sorry" alex murmured.
he mumbled something along the lines of 'fucking condemer bastard' and sat down.closing his eyes.
"hows zack?"he mumured,not opening his eyes.
we looked at each other.
"he lost his leg. you know about his arm. he just came out of surgery.thats all we know." i lowered my eyes.
"you havnt seen him yet?"
"no visitors"
"ah"
his breathing slowed as he fell back asleep. and we waited. it was another four hours before a dovtor pulled me out of the room.
"do you want them to be in one room or two seperate rooms?" she asked.
"uh,one room please. it easier that way. for all of us."
she nodded and headed down the hall. an hour later they had cam moved to a room twice as big as the last one. after getting him settled in they brought zack in and we could finally see the damage. he was shirtless,most of his torso wrapped in bandages,and his skin was pale. i couldnt see the rest of him under the pants he wore  but they were probably covered in bandages too. he was coverd in a thin sheen of sweat and was trembling slightly. the heart monitor beeped steadily,wich reassured me,but he still didnt look good.
Alex and i moved to his side in silent shock.the normally happy,seemlessly carefree boy lying on the bed did not look like Zack. he did not feel like zack,he didnt even smell like him. Cam looked sadly at his friend and lay back in his bed.i thought back to the final moment before we had chased away the condemer.
zack screamed and curled in on himeself,shivering and bleeding,clutching the stump of his leg. cam came at the condemer from behind and it swung at him,its claws raking deep into his arm. he screamed in agony and doubled over,arms digging into mangled flesh. he looked up at the creature with pure hatred in his eyes,and the world suddenly went bright as fire engulfed the thing.shrapnel from the surronding building flew at us,raking at our bare skin. cam passed out then.taking advantage of the distraction,Alex charged the creature,shifting into a huge monsterous beast that would have made most children from ages 3 to 11 piss there pants in pure fear. she bit onto it,raking it with long claws and it screeched. it swung uslessly at her. i looked around for my sword,but turned to find it a melted puddle of metal.shit. the condemer threw alex off and turned,fleeing into the unknown.
i sighed and stood up,cam watched me cross the room and sit down in a different chair with cracked eyes,shifting to a more comfortable position and wincing as he jostled his injuries. "hey sam! i think hes waking up!"alex said exitedly. zack moaned softly,his breath coming faster than normal. i moved to his side.
"zack?can you hear me?" i murmured. his eyes cracked open. a weight lifted off my chest.
"ugh,does that thing take pleasure in ripping my limbs off?" zack slurred.if i hadnt have been so worried,i might have laughed.
his eyes opend all the way and he took in the scene in front of him.then,suddenly,as if remembering something,zacks eyes widend as he attempted to sit up,only to be pushed down again by me.
"my leg? is it there?" he asked tenativly.
"i closed my eyes."no zack.sorry.
his face turned into an expression of pain.
"aww shit,Ayas gonna be so pissed." he grumbled.
"is that your mechanic?" alex asked,standing up and stretching.
zack closed his eyes and sighed.
"yeah.shes scary."
this time i did laugh.
zacks body stiffend.
"where is cam?"
"open your eyes and see,idiot." cam smirked from the bed next to him.
"oh.sorry dude." zack had opend his eyes and seen cams arm was gone.
"hey,not a big deal,not compared to you." cam murmured,his breathing slowing as he fell asleep.
i sat back in my chair and closed my eyes.it had been a long night
